Anecdotal Story
I visited the village of Market Overton, today. Villagers were milling around, and catching up with one another. There was a real sense of community that I haven't witnessed for some time. One lady, wearing a gorgeous perfume that she had recently purchased from Zara, was flitting over to the village shop for a jar of tangy Mrs Darlington's Legendary Lemon Curd for a Lemon Roulade that she was making. Two gentlemen at either end of the village were walking their dogs. One with a Mercedes Benz badge and a racing associated badge on his gilet. We got talking about our individual former lives when we would frequent Donnington Park, Silverstone, and Mallery Park. Then, as I walked toward the centre of the village, a few cyclists rode passed, then to my surprise one shouted, "is that you Gina?!" Sadly, I didn't quite make out who she was.
A short while later, whilst photographing the front of another beautiful house, a charming gentleman popped his head out of the front door, and remarked, with a smile on his face "you'll have to speak with my agent if you photograph my house". Turned out that he was a leading sports photographer of his time, that photographed Pele, Best, Charlton and Clough.
The Old Hall, pictured below will be open under the National Garden Scheme on 3 July. The gardens are delightful.
