If you ever find yourself in Rutland, a ceremonial county in the East Midlands, plus England's smallest county, be sure to visit the medieval village of Hambleton, located on the peninsula of Rutland Water, and a 3 mile drive from the lovely market town of Oakham. Quite simply, it is thoroughly charming, with so much to offer if you love quaint, tranquil villages, walking, stunning green spaces, wildlife, and history.
I often visit the village to either amble through it, or spend time chilling by the water's edge of Rutland Water. Its shore can be reached from the village after a 5 minute walk. If you have time, the 2.5 hour walk around the peninsular is breathtaking, with many stunning views across the water.
However, today's visit was to test a recently purchased 65 year old rangefinder film camera, so after grabbing a roll of film, and a short drive, I was soon enjoying a delightful morning immersing in Ketton Road lined with these beautiful historical houses.
