My Approach

Natural complimentary light

I seek to work in complimentary light. Bright but overcast sky provides complimentary light as it is softened/diffused by a thin layer of white cloud.

Early morning and late afternoon will provide complimentary rather than the harsh sun of midday. Early morning is a particularly special time with its stillness and quality of light. There is also a chance of dew on petals which is a lovely thing too.

A wind speed below 6 miles an hour is preferable to reduce the risk of blur.

Familiarity through repeat visits

Familiarity of a garden is also integral to achieving beautiful work. With each visit I will get to understand a garden's seasonality, changing light throughout the year too.

I will look for colour relationships that are part of garden's design.
