Hush & Anticipation
in the Cutting Garden of Brigitte Girling
It's a new year and for many of us, it brings with it a sense of opportunity, or a new way of looking at things. Like for many of us, I found myself staying at home for nearly 2 years to protect loved ones. Not being behind my camera for so long, and not capturing couples in Love in Italy, left me somewhat hollow, so I turned to my garden for solace.
To my amazement, the process of growing edibles from seed to enjoying them on the plate, and planting for Nature, then witnessing an increase in the number of Pollinators joining me in my garden, surprised and delighted me. At that moment, the desire to capture Nature had been ignited.
My immediate thought was to contact my friend and talented Florist, Brigitte Girling of Moss and Stone Floral Design to suggest that we might capture the changes in her Garden throughout the year; experiment, have fun and enjoy the process. To my utter delight, Brigitte said yes and we agreed to meet up in the middle of January, weather permitting!
Hello January and hello Brigitte!
It had been over 2 years since I last visited Brigitte in her garden. After a bit of a trek, but an incredible sunrise, I arrived just in time to witness a few remnants of harsh-steely Frost turned into Dewy. There was a gentle hush in the garden. It was so peaceful and still.
